Woodlands Primary School

Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

Local Community and Charity

At Woodlands we are very proud to be a huge part of our local community and value the strong links we make. We encourage our children through the school’s key drivers to be responsible global citizens and in doing this have a strong sense of themselves within the local community.

We have forged strong links with our parents and have a wide range of support both in school – with drop in sessions, coffee mornings and our wonderful learning mentors supporting them and with courses they can attend as well as having links with our local children’s centres, who have specialists to support them as well. We also have in a range of health professionals to support the children and their families with how to stay healthy.

We love having our parents in school & have half termly opportunities for them to spend time with their children in classes during ‘stay & learn’ sessions, class assemblies, reading challenge assemblies and writer of the month assemblies – We love celebrating the children’s work and achievements with you all and seeing how proud the children are of themselves.

All of the children have an opportunity to go to a range of places of worship to celebrate the diversity within our local community; we strongly believe that we should respect everyone’s needs, beliefs and cultures- which is also embedded in our key drivers.

Charitable work

Charity is very important at Woodlands and we support our local foodbank throughout the year.

We also take part in national fundraising days e.g. Macmillan’s coffee morning and children in need.

Our weekly newsletter is brimming with information about what the children have been doing in school as well as year group and subject blogs – please take a look at them.
